Essentially, being sick is everyone’s least favorite thing. It’s like walking around a small space with a giant fruit. You don’t know what you’ll do with it. There isn’t any idea of what space it’ll fit into. If it was a gift you’re probably filled with awkward contempt for the person that gave it to you. Then if you survive passed it there even more weird situation to follow (maybe the fallout of the mess after).
Either way it isn’t anyone’s favorite and then there’s the whole cleaning or organizing because who else will? Maybe you’re a college student, maybe you’re a parent, or maybe you’re just getting out in the world. What finds you when your sick usually feels more extreme because you’re already vulnerable. The best thing to do usually is to rest but occasionally it feels better to be active while sick. These are my suggestions to you to help you out.
Start with all the garbage cans.
Nothing will keep you sick longer than the smell of your favorite beef paté you cooked the other night. Even vegan and vegetarian dishes can smell over a short amount of if there’s to much heat in that liner so it’s really a very easy way to make the most of short bursts of energy you have.
Repot the plants
When trying to organize around the house a lot of people don’t consider plants being a source of smell. Unless you’re cool and keep all your plants in a cube with some terra cotta so you can barely water them. Chances are if you have them and then small animals, children or family with dementia that your plants have gotten schluffed.
Vacuum
Very few people would consider vacuuming while sick. Even more wouldn’t consider the rug in the hall being a source of smell likely making them sick either. It’s all a good way to get the body up and moving around with minimum exercise.
Deep clean something
Whether it is the kitchen, the bathroom, the pet area or some pile you haven’t gotten to. Picking a project to deep clean is a good idea while you’re sick. You’re already sick so you’ll be happy you started. Plus you can’t smell any heavy cleaners that could actually upset your stomach. You also get the option to opt out or take as long as possible because you’re just trying to be active while sick. Not to mention it’ll stay cleaner longer because chances are no one else wants to go to an area someone who was actively sick in.
Do the troves of laundry
Nothing like telling the world no by doing troves of laundry you’ve had just kicking it this entire time. Plus you can always make a pillow fort if you’re to overwhelmed. I wouldn’t fault you for it you’re already sick but making progress on a task that also sucks.
Buy a plastic refillable chair
Stock it with your yarn or fabric goodies. If you’re a type of self entertainer or like crafting chances are you have a pile of craft goodies you’ve been sour or languishing over. This way you get utility and you can always throw a stylish cover over it when you get sick of seeing it.
The secret of getting ahead is to get started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one. -Mark Twain
